Parents, I thought you might be interested in this article in Time regarding some surprising findings when it comes to school reform. It's a fresh look at an important issue to us as part of the HSPVA community.

Check out Diaz and I are going in the summer of 2013. We'd love to have you come with us. Here's the Travel Club site where you can find out why going with us makes Europe a much better experience.

Geography is Destiny!

Welcome to Geography at HSPVA. During our time together in class, I believe I can prove to you the statement to the left is true. As with all the social sciences, just as with literature and the arts, we will bear down on the question, "what does it mean to be human?" That is, what are the essential qualities that we possess, what are the answers that everyone has sought, to what degree is our destiny determined and what can we do about our fate? Geography is much more than mere maps, it is the story of a planet, and the narrative of one species that inhabits that planet.

Was this the origin of the essential elements of civilization and technological progress? Does geography determine destiny? You bet!
